108$ - carter BBD carb with stepper motor
50$ - air cleaner
33$ - coolent sensor temp
90$ - exhaust manifold (still need exhaust pipe)
It's racking up! :)
Managed to get the diff fluids changed. Painted the front diff cover :p Hopefully sometime this week I can get some time from queeg/arclight to help with the carb/manifold.

I GOT PARTS!
Ok, aircleaner with various hoses attached and missing on the way, 50$ from ebay.
Carter BBD with stepper motor, 100$ acquired.
Stock exhaust manifold, 90$ shipped, acquired.
I think I'm very close to having everything I need to get to work making my jeep smog legal, YAY!
In addition, I changed out all of my plugs and wires, the plugs were pretty black, hopefully tonight I can get the carb installed adjust the mixture using a tach dwell meter.
Still todo is fuel filter, transfer case, diffs and tranny fluid change. If I pretend that the exhaust manifold and carb are going to be easy, then my list is pretty short!!! sooooon!!!

I need parts!
To pass smog in California, I need to have C.A.R.B. (california air resources board) approved parts. This means that the Weber carburetor and 'performance' exhaust headers somebody installed have to come off. I have to source replacements for both. So far, best deal I can find is:
Found out that this one wont work, I NEED the stepper motor :(
Carburetor, New Replacement-Type w/o Stepper Motor (299.99)
http://www.jeep4x4center.com/product-information.asp?number=BBD4.2S
Now I'm looking for a good price on a Carter BBD
**UPDATE**
Found a good deal on a manifold (thanks arclight!)
1987-1990 Jeep Wrangler - Replacement Exhaust Manifold

I still need to find a stock air cleaner and possible the piece of exhaust that goes from the manifold to the part that attaches to the cat. Gah. On the upside, I'll have a weber carb for sale soon! :)
If anybody has any ideas where best to get these items, hit me up!!!
A little TLC goes a long way
The first time I heard this jeep fire up, it sounded like crap, wish I had shot a video of it... I had to stay on the throttle to keep it from stalling and downshifting would result in backfires.
After I got it back to our shop, the first thing I did was siphon off about 3 gallons of bad gas, I put 5 gallons of chevron 89 with techron and about 1/4 of a bottle of techron into it. IMMEDIATELY sounded better.
Next step was timing, I could hear that it was off and when I first hit it with the gun I couldn't even see the mark. Timing should be at 9 degrees, +/- 2, it was off the chart around 20 degrees when I started. After I was done with the timing, she was purring!
I hit autozone and bought 160$ worth of fluid and filters!
6 quarts mobil 1 15/40 synthetic oil
3 quarts of 75/90 gear oil (diffs)
3 quarts of ATF 4+ for the transfer case
3 gallons of 50/50 prestone
1 boche oil filter
6 champion plugs
new set of plug wires
2 quarts of dot 3 brake fluid
fuel filter
I forget what I got for the tranny but I have the fluids for that too.
Hopefully I can get to most of that before this weekend.
