The first time I heard this jeep fire up, it sounded like crap, wish I had shot a video of it... I had to stay on the throttle to keep it from stalling and downshifting would result in backfires.
After I got it back to our shop, the first thing I did was siphon off about 3 gallons of bad gas, I put 5 gallons of chevron 89 with techron and about 1/4 of a bottle of techron into it. IMMEDIATELY sounded better.
Next step was timing, I could hear that it was off and when I first hit it with the gun I couldn't even see the mark. Timing should be at 9 degrees, +/- 2, it was off the chart around 20 degrees when I started. After I was done with the timing, she was purring!
I hit autozone and bought 160$ worth of fluid and filters!
6 quarts mobil 1 15/40 synthetic oil
3 quarts of 75/90 gear oil (diffs)
3 quarts of ATF 4+ for the transfer case
3 gallons of 50/50 prestone
1 boche oil filter
6 champion plugs
new set of plug wires
2 quarts of dot 3 brake fluid
fuel filter
I forget what I got for the tranny but I have the fluids for that too.
Hopefully I can get to most of that before this weekend.
